Director of Policy and EU Public Affairs

Campaigning and Advocacy Organisation

This management position will be responsible for providing policy analysis and writing to key relevant issues, specifically in the areas of agricultural development and broader Europe based policy issues.
Other responsibilities will include:
Drive research, analysis, and policy asks across all geographic markets related to agricultural development and food security issues.
Lead engagement with multilateral institutions and other agencies focused on agricultural development.
Develop/maintain relationships with senior and working level contacts, including those in African countries, on specific policy issues and the implementation of key programs.
Represent the organisation at meetings and conferences on specific agricultural development and Europe-specific policy topics, as needed.
Supervise a small global agricultural development team of policy managers and research assistants.
Lead broader policy engagement in the European market and serve as primary point of contact with the Europe Advocacy team; provide policy input in Europe team strategy development, and ensure that organization policy needs are met in Europe by managing assignments across all global policy staff accordingly. This will entail managerial responsibilities of several country policy managers in European markets.
Ensure that the Global Policy Director is aware of critical issues, moments, and strategic opportunities on key issues.

Who we're looking for
The successful candidate will be able to illustrate the following:
Advanced degree , preferably in agriculture or a development-related field
Substantial experience working on agricultural development policy in a government agency, multilateral institution, think tank, or NGO
Experience working on issues of development, particularly in Africa; demonstrable understanding of the links between advocacy, policy-making, legislation, and implementation of programs.
Excellent research, writing, analytical, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with shifting priorities and occasional heavy workloads.
previous work experience in Africa and/or international development.
