To oversee the tender team with guidance from Senior Management. To provide support and advice across the national base of offices. To build key strategic relationships with partners to ensure a client perspective is maintained at all times throughout the bid cycle. To supply qualified resources to bid solutions, ensure timely internal reviews and use of best practice materials. This role will be based in Manchester with regular travel to other offices including London.
Principal duties
• Provide guidance and support to the tender team as required, to ensure bid management provides an effective and value adding function throughout the business.
• Devise and manage the tenders team's projects to develop tools, templates and commercial best practice;
• Knowledge sharing of new and innovative ways of working in order to help improve the tender team and subsequently the business approach to proposals;
• Ensure there is development and delivery of training sessions and workshops on the tender process and best practice;
• Disseminate tender best practice on both a local and national level;
• Communicate key learning's from tenders across the BD department.
• Facilitate the thinking and ideas for a presentation, help the team to shape their presentation and coach individuals where necessary;
• Chair meetings to evaluate opportunities (go / no go decisions);
• Ensure the tender team are working effectively with partners and their teams to develop the response to the invitation to tender;
• Provide challenge and input to team selection, ensuring a multi-disciplinary or national approach where appropriate;
• Facilitate the team to identify key messages and differentiators for the proposal;
• Coach the project manager through all stages of the bid, providing them with tools and guidance to undertake their role;
• Coach and challenge the teams on client interaction at all stages of the bid cycle
Who we're looking for
• Very strong understanding and experience of the key stages of a sales cycle;
• Experience of managing (or working in a senior capacity within) a tender team where there are multiple projects with time-critical deadlines;
• Ability to persuade, influence and challenge in a constructive manner and identify appropriate solutions;
• Solid commercial, tender, business development, sales or marketing background;
• Ability to translate the firm's service offering into key benefits for a client;
• Experience as a senior tender manager;
• Professional services experience essential.
• Ability to develop proposal content;
• Ability to manage resources;
