Halfords are looking to recruit a Merchandise Planner whose prime responsibility will be to own the stock forecast for specific product groups. This is achieved through taking input from the relevant Trading teams and Suppliers for new ranges, seasons and promotions. Working as part of the Commercial Planning Team you will play a pivotal role within the business, owning and generating accurate stock forecasts and intake plans for each product group. The role will fully support the Trading team with relevant information and analysis to help inform better commercial decisions, acting as a respected commercial partner. Additionally the role will manage delivery of all Supply Chain KPIs.
The successful candidate will own and manage intake plans for specific planning groups within each category in line with budget expectations.
Alongside this you will be assisting and influencing sales and margin forecasting and commercial decision making with product managers and other functions across the business. You will be expected to manage inventory to agreed stock budgets and stock Turn KPIs. Product category areas may include Sat Nav, Cycling or Travel Solutions which would require both branded and own label supplier management experience.
Overview of responsibilities
-Support and influence company sales & margin budget -Stock forecasting taking inputs from trading teams for promotions, new ranges and seasons.
-Hold regular consensus meetings with Product Managers / Buyers and external suppliers to review and update sales and intake plans -Manage all aspects of Supply Chain KPIs (DC and Store Availability / stock investment / Forecast accuracy / stock turn / DC capacity)
Who we're looking for
You will have a strong track record of performing within a Merchandising or Retail Supply Chain role. This will have given you exposure to a global supplier base and diverse product portfolio. An ability to understand and interpret commercial information is essential, whilst being able to influence key decision makers to drive positive performance across the category.
Your experience will ideally involve exposure to branded suppliers as well as some direct factory relationships.
