Category Planning Manager

To assist the Category Strategy Manager and the wider Category team in the delivery of initiatives which will give strategic category and merchandising guidance aimed at increasing category sales for the retail customer
• To assist the Category Strategy Manager in the maintenance and development of future Category Growth Vision and Strategies, which give direction to the business and our customer on how to maximise sales now and in the future
• To assist the organisation and implementation of ongoing strategy projects, liaising with contacts, both internally and to external service providers.
• To develop and compile data for quarterly refreshes of ongoing promotional project work. Assist in the analysis of promotional data and feed into internal and category promotional reporting
•Provide support for and assisting the Category Team with merchandising direction and requests
• Liaising with agency contacts to ensure the upkeep and maintenance of the Master Product File for Merchandising data management.
• Use continuous and adhoc data sources to develop and compile market intelligence for the category team and our customers, eg, range reviews,

Who we're looking for
• Good understanding of the Category Management Process, Range Review process, Innovation Process and Portfolio Management.

• Good understanding of and supportive of commercial strategy and plans. Has a strategic view of the business and identifies necessary improvements. Has a good understanding of the work of other functions and departments in an FMCG business. Has an awareness and knowledge of FMCG market and issues facing the trade, shoppers and consumers.

• Understands applicable customer processes, marketing and category management (range, merchandising, pricing and promotions). Understanding of customers systems, procedures and standards and their impact on the business.
• Understands and operates within legislation and legal guidelines that relate to category management activities.
