People Manager

Our client, an award winning independent retailer, is looking to recruit their first People Manager for this exciting role. Having grown extensively in recent years, and with further plans for expansion, this is a fantastic opportunity to join them on this journey.

Job Description

Providing a full HR service to the business, currently managing one HR administrator
Creation and development of a people-friendly employee handbook
Managing and advising on all employee relations issues, including disciplinary, grievances, absence and performance management
Establishing new policy and procedures, using up to date employment law knowledge
Managing potential change including restructures, new site openings, TUPE transfers etc
Managing recruitment across all areas, including development of careers page on website
Development of a full induction process and performance evaluation process
Ensuring Health & Safety standards are maintained
Full training needs analysis, roll out and implementation of training & development programmes at all levels of the organisation
Management of reward strategy, including pensions and benefits
Development of an inclusive People Strategy, including employee forums, and encouraging open communication
Ensure the unique company values are consistently delivered through our people
Establish a full set of people related KPIs
A wide variety of HR projects, including potentially applying for IIP, and 'Times Top 100 Small Companies'.

Who we're looking for
Ideally graduate level and CIPD qualified
Previous experience in an HR management role, ideally in a retail environment or similar
People focussed and down to earth, with a creative approach to HR
Strong employment law knowledge
Previous experience of establishing HR for an SME preferable
'Hands on' approach, happy to 'get stuck in' and turn hand to anything
Excellent planning, organisation and communication skills with a can do attitude
Ability to grow with the organisation
A team player with vision drive and energy
Enthusiastic and passionate about what they do - ability to inspire and motivate those around them and work at all levels of the organisation
Willing to travel and has current valid driving licence for when further sites are established
