Principal Accountabilities
a. Operating Plan
To ensure that the Maintenance function operates within the agreed budget
b. Resource Management
Ensure that multi skilled technicians provide a cost effective service, thereby minimising downtime.
Ensure that the engineering spare parts stores stock holding and control is sufficient to meet operational needs, whilst ensuring that stock holdings are kept within acceptable levels
Ensure that the contractor support teams comply with the approved contractor rules and acceptable site standards
c. Engineering Projects
Ensure that project procedures are maintained and distributed as appropriate
Ensure that projects provide an economically feasible, up to date design to Operations that meets the requirements of the specific department
Liaise with suppliers, contractors and in house departments to ensure costs effective solutions for improvement projects
To ensure that projects are correctly scoped, planned and executed
Effective handover to the relevant user groups with training material as per the project scope
Facilitate project implementation in accordance with customer, cost and time requirements
d. Environmental Health and Safety
To liaise with the EHS Officer, providing technical support as required
To carry out health and safety investigations and provide feedback on findings where engineering can or is a contributory factor to the incident under investigation
Planning, Organising and Controlling
a. Ensure that the Engineering function is organised to meet the required Site Objectives and Site KPI's in the most effective and efficient way
b. To ensure that the Planned Preventative Schedules are developed and constantly updated to improve operational efficiency
c. To ensure that the scope of improvement projects are properly specified, designed, installed and commissioned in a safe manner, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and are managed on time, right first time, to quality standards and within the allocated and agreed budget
d. To ensure that contractors are properly and effectively supervised at all times and managed to meet as a minimum internal standards on contractor safety and that project time scales are clearly defined, communicated and documented to them in a timely manner
Who we're looking for
Ideally a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electromechanical Engineering (minimum of HNC)
Ideally have, or be working towards. NEBOSH certificate in Safety Management
Full Chartership
Good planning and organisational skills
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Computer literate
Engineering Technical ability
Relevant experience in chemical, FMCG, food, pharmaceuticals manufacturing industry covering; maintenance, design & installation, project management of capital projects
Relevant leadership experience , delivering coaching and support to a multi-disciplinary team
A good understanding of electro mechanical interfaces and knowledge of chemical processes is essential
Good understanding of legal requirements for design and implementation of projects. Including, but not limited to British and/or EC Standards. CE Marking of equipment, 17th Edition of Electrical Regulations and CDM Regulations
Knowledge of writing technical specifications, reports, negotiating with potential suppliers, and carrying out factory and sire acceptance testing of electrical and mechanical equipment and/ or systems for use in a productions requirement
Knowledge of HV distribution within a factory environment would be an advantage but not essential
To authorise and/or prepare and complete paperwork and justifications for CapEx projects
To negotiate with potential suppliers
