Trade Mark Attorney

The successful candidate will manage trade mark and design portfolios in any and all countries of the world, ensuring that clients are able to extract the most from their portfolio. They will provide commercial advice on all aspects of branding to clients and internal colleagues. Advice will be across a wide range of areas including; trade mark and design infringement and passing off matters, filing and prosecuting CTM and UK Design applications, due diligence enquiries and the adoption of new brands.

In addition, the role will be responsible for filing and prosecuting UK, CTM WIPO and overseas national trade mark applications and registered design applications, carrying out trade mark searches and assignment and change of name/address recordals. In respect of litigation, the successful candidate will propose and negotiate settlement agreements, including advising on licensing, conduct opposition, revocation and invalidity proceedings, overcome objections raised by the UK IP office at hearings and collate and file evidence at the UKIPO and OHIM.

Who we're looking for
The successful candidate will have completed the ITMA professional exams with up to 3 years post qualification experience. Experience of dealing with trade mark searches, filing in prosecution, portfolio management, due diligence and disputes is also key, along with a focus on providing commercial solutions for clients. Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft applications is important. Experience of online searching using Marquesa or Saegis and the IPPO management software would also be an advantage.
