We are a supportive and friendly team looking to recruit a lawyer specialising in public procurement to join the EU & Competition Group preferably based in our Birmingham office, but a London base for the right candidate may be considered. There will be an opportunity to work on a national basis irrespective of office base, We are looking for a candidate with a strong procurement law background with the skills and experience to run their own matters with some supervision and who has the confidence to deal with clients directly. You will also be supporting senior members of the team on high profile, often ground breaking national projects and will gain exposure to procurement litigation.

Who we're looking for
You must be technically excellent with a passion for procurement law. Equally important is to be commercially aware and enthusiastic about business development. You will be a team player with a client and solutions focused approach, and will also have a strong academic background and excellent communication and organisational skills. You should be willing to handle a mix of procurement work and there will also be opportunities for you to develop expertise in State Aid work.

About our client
Pinsent Masons LLP is an international law firm with over 250 Partners and more than 1000 lawyers world-wide, providing a full range of corporate and commercial services. The firm ranks amongst the top 100 global law firms.

Our team of highly experienced, dedicated public procurement lawyers make us - we believe - the largest true specialist procurement team of any UK law firm. The team consistently receives a number one ranking (nationally) in the Chambers Directory and in the Chambers' individual rankings the Partner who leads the team, Ruth Smith, appears in the highest band.

The team is unusual in having strength in all three major sources of procurement work; public sector, utilities and contractors, and we undertake a vast array of work for these clients, from small ad hoc queries to structuring and running the procurement aspects of multi-billion pound projects. Our public clients are diverse: central and local government, government agencies, regional and regeneration bodies, housing associations, universities, health and emergency services. Our utilities clients encompass the water, energy, post and transport sectors.
