This is a fantastic opportunity to join the buying team as a Buyer, reporting directly to the Head of Fresh Buying. We are looking to recruit high quality trading professionals to take full responsibility for the ambient grocery category area.

The main responsibilities of the roles are:

•The production and delivery of annual departmental sales, profit and contribution budgets for agreed categories.
• The production, delivery and review of the annual strategy and plans for agreed categories.
• Negotiating favourable buying terms with suppliers and control of the product pricing policies.
• Negotiation and delivery of a planned programme of promotional activity
• Interpreting appropriate market research activity and recommending actions for improvement
• Creating open and effective relationships with key customers and suppliers.

Who we're looking for
You will currently be working in a buying function with good knowledge of either ambient, frozen, fresh or the food to go product areas and will have gained your experience in a retail environment. You will have excellent negotiation and numeracy skills, strong commerciality and will have a demonstrable track record of growth in your category. Based in the Midlands or willing to relocate you will be an authority in your sector and you will posses the creativity and ambition to produce the results required. Most importantly you will thrive in a competitive environment that rewards outstanding performance.
