The vacancy for Creative Artworker has opened at my client's head office in Hemel Hempstead. My client operates three leading brands and is the largest provider of UK holidays.
The position will focus on design and production of materials from concept to print ready artwork. Although brand guidelines do exist, this is very much a role for someone with a designer mindset as there is a lot of scope for creativity with layout and choice of imagery so confidence with own ideas is essential. Typical work will include direct mail, press adverts, retail, point of sale and brochures but there may also be opportunities to get involved with creative campaign work that may push the boundaries of the branding.
Who we're looking for
The candidate will need to be creative with a good eye for colour and imagery, enthusiastic, self-motivated and have strong attention to detail as well as having bags of initiative. Equally important is being comfortable with managing several of his or her own projects and being deadline-aware, so good time management & punctuality is crucial.
Within the role there will be a large element of working with customers directly so we do require someone with a friendly, diplomatic and client-focussed attitude as well as good verbal communication skills. You could say that we're after someone with an open mind, a big heart and a small ego!
We require experience in the main Adobe CS5 suite of applications running on Mac OSX, including InDesign, Photoshop & Illustrator. A basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications would be beneficial but isn't essential. The candidate will have awareness of basic repro & print processes, in line with the ongoing requirement for supplying printers with hi-res PDFs directly. For example, knowledge of image formats, colour modes, spot colours, cutter guides and their appropriate usage is essential.
3-4 years minimum industry experience is required (preferably in similar customer-facing roles) as well as a design-related qualification.
