The Director of Finance is a newly created position and will play a key part in the transition to the IBIS Styles branding. They will be responsible for the day to day running of the finance function and be accountable to stakeholders.
The main responsibilities of the role include:
• Overall responsibility for the accounting function and ownership of all figures relating to the Hotel, the Director of Finance will report into the Managing Director
• Establishing personal credibility within the business and liaising with Senior Management
• Responsible for reviewing and implementing a new financial system from Sage Line 50and installing Fidelio PMS system
• Providing timely, accurate and relevant financial insight to Senior Management and commercial teams to facilitate decisions and control
• Building and maintaining financial models using Microsoft Excel
• Assisting with the transition to IBIS Styles under the Accor brand
• Managing and developing the accounting team of 3 permanent staff and bringing in additional resources as required
• Preparing the monthly management accounts, Management Information Pack and responsibility for the budgeting and forecasting process
• Presenting financial information to senior stakeholders and close interaction with the Bank as well as business partnering the Heads of Department
• Assisting with the development of the business plan and improvements to revenue
Who we're looking for
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA). Experience within the Leisure/Hotel Industry is a distinct advantage. They will have can-do attitude and proactive approach and be able to integrate within a close-knit team.
• A confident and enthusiastic individual who is able to adapt to a dynamic environment and deliver a high degree of financial accuracy
• Strong budgeting and reporting skills against agreed KPI's
• Excellent accounting knowledge
• Strong team management skills
• Excellent communication skills to build relationships across the wider business
• Financial and Management accounting experience
• Good commercial acumen
Other desirable attributes are:
• Ability to think strategically and practically to operate within a growing business and add value beyond the numbers
• Strong systems skills including Excel
• Knowledge of Fidelio PMS and Sage
• Comfortable communicating with senior management and non finance individuals
About our client
Custom House Hotel is one of the largest independent hotels in London with 282 rooms and 13 self contained apartments, as well as Cafe facilities and fully licensed Chinese restaurant. It has a turnover of circa £6m and achieves an average occupancy rate of 80%. Custom House Hotel is owned and managed by Aquals Investments Ltd and is in the process of converting to an IBIS Styles Hotel. It will continue to be managed by Aquals but will benefit from additional resource from the Accor brand. When the transition to IBIS Styles is complete, Custom House Hotel will represent the brand as the flagship hotel in London. Approximately 30% of overall business is directly linked to the Excel Centre and the hotel's proximity to the O2 Arena and London City Airport generates further custom. Custom House Hotel employs around 120 full and part - time staff and is lead by the Managing Director and a strong team of Heads of Department.
