The role reports into the Group Financial Controller,whilst also working closely with the Finance Director. This is a 'hands on' role encompassing the financial management of all aspects of Production activities from Development & Radio to TV & DVD's. You will help coordinate the work of other staff including a Finance Assistant and Freelance Production Accountants. You will work closely with other members of the Finance team and liaise directly with Production Executives, the Business Affairs department and the Management of subsidiary production companies.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Providing timely information on all aspects of Production, acting as a first point of contact for production staff
• Overseeing credit control for Production ensuring the timely invoicing and collection of production monies in line with contract
• Preparing monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary
• Preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Acting as first reviewer on weekly TV payment runs
• Contributing to the preparation of the annual budget and re-forecasts
• Cash-flow monitoring and forecasting
• Maintaining a robust financial controls environment
• Coordinating the work of freelance production accountants and overseeing the set-up, reporting and close down of production financial reporting
• Managing the cost reporting process of pilots and series with Production
• Cost reporting centrally accounted projects, including radio productions, DVDs and developments
• Assisting in the preparation of client reports following close down of projects
• Overseeing production payroll and ensuring compliance with HMRC Film and Television industry guidance
• Liaising with the auditors and overseeing the preparation of the annual financial statements
• VAT returns and TV specific tax reporting as required
• Coordinating with a finance assistant to manage the accurate and timely postings of purchase and sales ledger transactions
Who we're looking for
• The ideal candidate will have strong academics and will be qualified in a recognised accountancy / finance qualification (e.g. ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
• Previous experience of working within a media organisation is preferable
• The candidate will need to be experienced at effectively prioritising his/her own workload.
• Strong communication skills are essential.
• experince in Production Accountancy is key.
