Job Vacancy Details
Staffing and recruiting
Toronto, Canada
Permanent
Updated March 26, 2012
We seek experienced recruiters to complement our existing team. The role of a consultant in Canada is subtly different from a consultant in the UK as there is a greater emphasis on job creation, less natural competitors although much stiffer competition from internal recruitment teams and hence the need for consultants who are used to developing relationships directly with the line manager and who can influence recruitment processes. The Canadian market place places great emphasis on personal relationships, partnership and open communication so you should be comfortable working in this way. There are few large volume accounts and so experience of working with a large poprtfolio of clients is certainly preferred.
Who we're looking for
As the Toronto business grows, we are looking for experienced recruiters to join our team and help us develop our presence in the Canadian market place. Whilst the market is stronger than the UK and the Canadian economy remains healthy in comparison, it is still essential that consultants are proactive and capable of creating long lasting relationships from scratch. You should have a proven track record of recruitment in one of our specialist areas - Accounting and Finance, Marketing, Sales, Technology, Oil and Gas, Supply Chain and Procurement, Office Support, Banking, Risk, Engineering and Human Resources - and should have a sound knowledge of a 360 recruitment cycle.
Ideally you will be looking for career development and have the natural skills to lead people, enjoy mentoring and want to develop management skills. You should have some experience of solution sales and a proven ability to sell retained solutions would be preferred although not essential.
About our client
Launched in 2005, Michael Page Canada continues to be one of our global success stories. Operating out of two locations Toronto and Montreal, Michael Page Canada enjoys the benefits of a positive employment market and less developed recruitment structures. With an economy based on huge supplies of natural resources, Canada has remained relatively bouyant regardless of difficulties in the global economy. Toronto and Montreal are the hubs of comercial activity on the East Coast whilst Calgary is quickly becoming the main commercial hub in the West.
Toronto ranks number 2 in the world as a city of opportunity, according to a recent report from PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Trumped only by New york City, Toronto stood out among the world's "metro powerhouses" in the areas of finance, tourism, livability and innovation - beating cities such as Hong Kong, Berlin, Chicago and London. Ranked #1 in terms of quality of living, clean air, sports and leisure, Toronto has major league Ice Hockey, Basketball and Baseball teams and is within a short drive of the great Canadian outdoors.
Michael Page Toronto is based in downtown Toronto and is a busy office of approximately 40 consultants. We have just purchased a bigger office and move on 1st March to an office capable of housing twice the number of consultants. Our brand in Canada is strong based on our many international relationships and well known reputation. We presently have teams specialising in Accounting and Finance, Marketing, Sales, Technology, Oil and Gas, Supply Chain and Procurement, Office Support, Banking, Risk, Engineering and Human Resources.
