Michael Page Buying & Merchandising is seeking a Category Manager for this exciting and growing E-tailer based in the Northern Home Counties.
The role holder will ensure that the brand positioning is reflected within the product strategy through the approach to and execution of pricing, product design, merchandising and promotional activity.
As context for this challenge, the key drivers of growth in the business are:
• Increase average order value
• Increase conversion rates
• Increase visitor numbers
• Lower customer acquisition costs
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
o Be regarded both internally and externally as the Consumer Champion and ensure the product strategy is reflective to the needs and wants of the target audience(s)
o Lead and drive the best insight in industry practices, assessing competitors' strengths & weaknesses, sales trends and data to drive new business opportunities. Specifically identify gaps and opportunity in
the product range
o Accountable for the specification of product requirements to fill the gap at a target price that will maximise the opportunity
o Communication of the requirements and interfacing with the Purchasing and Quality Teams to enable a rapid sourcing process which delivers high quality product at the best possible prices
o Management of the Merchandising function to ensure product copy, photography and product specifications are created in a timely fashion and to the highest possible standards
o Communication with the Purchasing Team to ensure suppliers meet production timelines to enable stock availability targets
o Daily and weekly monitoring of KPI for sales, profit, stock and availability at product category level
o Analysis of KPIs against forecasts
o Planning and implementation of short-term tactical and long-term strategic product ranging and promotions
o Develop pricing analysis techniques / modelling to maximize gross profit contribution. Furthermore to analysis and respond to competitor pricing and the implementation of strategic and tactical campaigns to
maintain the companies targeted pricing policy
o Develop and manage an approach to competitor benchmarking to ensure competitor advantage
Who we're looking for
The ideal candidate will:
• be an experienced Buyer or Category Manager with a strong trading background in Retail, FMCG or E-tail
• have experience in budget management, implementing and upholding process
• have experience of presenting to and reporting to senior level/board
• have experience in managing people and be able to demonstrate leadership behaviours
