Managing tenders
• Identify all potential public sector tenders through the various websites and journals.
• Ensuring correct decision making in terms of go/no go assessments.
• Consider pricing and profitability up front so the fee earners can make informed decisions.
• Work with fee-earners to develop winning strategies and propositions for tender, frequently covering several proposals simultaneously.
• Project manage end-to-end pitch process supporting the pitch team in delivery of outstanding proposal documents and the compilation of relevant information - often to tight deadlines.
• Review and edit proposal documents and other materials to add value including drafting of marketing related copy.
• Coaching and preparation of fee earners prior to scoping meetings and presentation meetings.


Pitch processes and systems
• Oversee implementation of processes for gathering credentials and CVs across all practice groups using a consistent firm-wide approach.
• Monitor pitch success/failure.
• Conduct and encourage pitch follow-ups and debriefs.
• Promote pitch quality control systems and procedures.
• Develop and maintain standard pitch template information.
• Participate in or lead departmental and fee-earner training relating to pitches.
• Maintain good MI/pipeline of tenders.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• Pitch/bid conversion rate (target 60%).
• Quality of proposals.
• Revenue generated from successful bids.
• Positive feedback from partner and fee-earner community on contribution.
• Effective teamwork with positive feedback from team members

Who we're looking for
This is an attractive opportunity for a graduate with at least 5 years' bids experience, looking for a new challenge to build on their existing experience. In addition to proven experience in the above areas of responsibility we seek (in particular in client care):
• Graduate (plus commitment to, or existing additional professional marketing/business qualifications).
• At least 5 years relevant bids experience (within a professional services organisation area, where the individual frequently worked with senior management).
• Enthusiasm to develop an in-depth understanding of the Firm, our targets, the competition etc.
• Excellent communication skills - both written and oral.
• Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills - with partners, key associates, and business development colleagues, clients and suppliers.
• A proactive approach, creativity, tenacity and energy.
• High attention to detail and strong client (commercial) focus.
• Professional in outlook, attitude and appearance.
• Politically astute - can make tough decisions and follow through; anticipates future areas of risk for the practice and takes appropriate action to address these.
• Ability to motivate, develop and inspire both team and fee-earners to deliver business goals and change behaviour where required. Draws on experience to manage change.
