Within this role you will be responsible for the following; • Overall Management ofa team of Procurement and Commercial staff who will tender and run contracts • Manage a risk process and management system for Transmission Major Projects. The system includes External, Strategic, Operational, Safety, Contracting / Procurement, Contract Management, Financial and Environmental risks. • Assist in the development of project strategies for the project life cycle from conception through to completion and delivery • Manage and support the interface with Group Audit, ensuring that departmental procedures comply with Group requirements • Manage project costings to enable engineering costs to be verified and provide feedback to mitigate future project delays and need for Project re-approval • Manage the Procurement and Commercial team who review and assess tender returns from a commercial risk perspective and provide feedback to enable commercial risks to be managed effectively • Provide adhoc support on all areas of commercial contract management for smaller major projects contracts ensuring risk is minimised.
Who we're looking for
The ideal candidate will possess the following; • NEC contract management experience and ideally have experience of large capital construction projects. • Have the ability to lead and motivate a team of Procurement and Commercial services staff • Demonstrate experience in running tenders and post contract letting processes and procedures • Have a track record of completion and delivery of Major Projects Commercial activities • Possess strong planning, organisational and leadership skills • Be skilled in International Forms of Contract and familiar with relevant Contract Law • Be skilled in commercial and contract negotiations • Have the ability to analyse problems and make well-reasoned and sound decisions • Possess excellent communication and presentation skills
