Reporting to the Divisional VP, this role is responsible for leading the technical engineering function across 2 sites in the UK and Europe, with full accountability for leading NPI Programmes with European customers. Through the management of the technical engineering function (comprising Applications, Test and CAD Engineers), you will be the primary interface for engineering activity both internally and externally, responsible for improving the technical capability of the function through leading improvement projects, successfully working cross-functionally, and training, mentoring and developing the technical engineering team.
Daily responsibility includes:
• Develop, design, specify and standardize the building blocks / products based on the application specification from customers respectively manufacturing requirements (both customer and internal)
• Conduct this work and approvals via New Product Introduction (NPI) process
• Solve engineering problems for the customer.
• Do design feasibility checks based on customers drawings and spec's in RFQ phase
• Close cooperation with other FTS Eng teams in Norway, USA, China and India.
• Make sure that products designed are qualified and tested properly
• Support manufacturing in creating Process FMEA's
Who we're looking for
• Relevant Candidates MUST be fluent in both German and English
• Minimum degree qualified in mechanical engineering or a relevant programme (E.g. Automotive or Aeronautical)
• An extensive track record in automotive application engineering.
• Ideally a track record of managing engineering professionals
• Knowledge about systems for brake, fuel, oil, coolant, air in powertrain and/or chassis preferable the piping, tubes and connectors elements
• Working knowledge of materials: rubber, thermoplastic and steel
• Preferably CAD skills CATIA 5 or ProE
