Deputy Director Corporate Communications

To plan and coordinate all corporate marketing activities with a particular emphasis on utilising all digital media channels including the website. You will be responsible for ensuring the brand and visual identity are deployed throughout the business and will maintain a strategic overview of the web site, iTunes U and our print and online offerings, ranging from student prospectuses, alumni publications, annual reports, research publications and other bespoke corporate publications.
You will work closely with colleagues in Research and Enterprise, ensuring that research is disseminated to as wide an audience as possible. You will also liaise frequently with colleagues in the Recruitment and International Office, providing advice on brand and tone of voice and supporting UK and international recruitment campaigns including executive editorial control of prospectuses. This will require close liaison with academic and recruitment staff.
You will also work closely with the Alumni and Development Office on alumni engagement and support for fundraising.
You will play the leading role in ensuring that the business fully exploits new media platforms (such as iTunes U, Twitter, Facebook and increased use of audio-visual on our website) to best reach our diverse stakeholder groups (research funders, business, prospective students, alumni, government and international partners).

Who we're looking for
Essential:
Educated to degree level.
Membership of professional body such a CIPR or CIM

Desirable:
A postgraduate PR, marketing or qualification in a related discipline
Up-to-date knowledge of the higher education sector
Knowledge of branding and reputation management principles and practices as it applies within the HE sector

Skills

Essential:
A comprehensive understanding of marketing and public relations and ability to manage staff and resources
Familiarity and senior experience managing websites and teams, e-marketing, advertising (print and web), commissioning market research and brand management
Excellent writing and analytical skills
Effective interpersonal skills; ability to motivate teams, influence stakeholders and build relationships at all levels
Excellent people management and networking skills
An ability to manage short term operational pressures with longer term strategic priorities
An inclusive approach to management and administration with the ability to achieve buy-in from colleagues at all levels.
Experience<BR>At least 8 years experience at senior level in a marketing environment, including reputation management (branding). You will have experience in working with and influencing senior management and the development of strategic marketing and communication plans in line with corporate objectives.
Experience of managing external agencies and suppliers - e.g. market researchers, designer
