Senior Labour Planning Manager

Retail Distribution

This is a highly specialist role working for one of the most exciting retail brands in the world. This role takes responsibility for managing their UK Operations Temporary Labour requirements, which includes the annual peak increase in labour.

This role will report to the UK HR Director and can be based at any of their sites in the UK, which are as far north as Glasgow, Yorkshire, the Midlands,and down to South Wales. The role will require approximately 50% travel in the UK/EU.

Key Responsibilities:

• To determine the strategy and direction for the business's UK Operations Temporary Labour requirements, including the significant annual peak increase in temporary labour
• To be responsible for developing a framework for managing labour requirements for all UK distribution centres, ensuring standard processes are in place across the UK.
• To prepare and execute the annual project plan, working with site HR teams to ensure that the following actions happen on an annual basis:
o A review of all agreed standardised processes to ensure these continue to meet the need and meet lean principles.
o A critical review and enhancement of standard reporting and tools to ensure business needs are consistently met.
o Effective auditing and compliance mechanisms are in place, both internally and within the selected agencies to ensure that legal and contractual requirements are consistently meet.
• To negotiate contractual requirements with multiple agencies and master vendors
• Overall management of agencies and master vendors within the Distribution Centres to the agreed KPI's and SLA's
• To determine the labour demographic in relevant areas, ensuring that the agency and master vendor's recruitment strategies are flexible and robust to meet the need in each area.
• To monitor and communicate changes in legislation and the economic environment
• Partnering with local government agencies to identify potential funding and how that could be implemented through partner agencies.
• To ensure that the company brand is reflected in agency communications, including advertising and social media
• To work with Compensation and Benefits to ensure that total compensation strategy is market competitive
• To lead the onsite labour managers throughout the peak trading period, ensuring metrics are achieved and root cause analysis is completed

Who we're looking for
A highly credible individual, with demonstrable experience of working in a similar, volume focussed role. Candidates must be currently working in a similar position in a commercial organisation, either in-house or at a senior level in an RPO structure.
• Strong project management and planning skills.
• Able to develop and implement regional goals and strategies.
• Experience of high volume recruitment.
• Experience of managing and influencing agencies, including contract negotiations.
• Excellent understanding of legislation relevant to labour law and agency workers in the UK.
• Experience of leading and influencing teams across multiple locations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Results orientated.
• Highly developed remote and indirect leadership ability.
• A clear understanding of in-house client management.
• Degree qualified.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, in particular Excel.
