The purpose of this role is to oversee the planning, implementation and on site management of the Information Technology services requirements for a large scale event, based in Central London.
As the the IT Services Manager (reporting to theSenior Technical Manager)for a large scale event, you will be responsible for;
• Contribute to the delivery of a successful event that meets the requirements of a variety of education and skills organisations, and exceeds the expectations of participants, visitors and stakeholders.
• Prepare user requirement specifications for all aspects of the event, where Information Technology is required (in areas such as competition areas, exhibition areas, wrap around delivery areas, offices and administration areas, etc.).
• Working with external suppliers, contractors, sponsors and the venue Information Technology team plan and deliver the Information Technology requirements of the event, ensuring effective deployment, commissioning, operation and decommissioning of services.
• Work collaboratively with the Sponsorship team to ensure that Information Technology requirements are specified accurately to inform the requirements of [potential] sponsors.
• Produce requirement specifications in line with the event and the procurement strategy for all outsourced activity.
• Effectively manage resources (including agencies, suppliers, contractors) so that all products and services are delivered to acceptable standards on time, to budget and meet the required specification(s)/objective(s).
• Manage activities/tasks in accordance with the agreed project plan to ensure delivery on time and to budget.
• Other duties and/or projects as may reasonably be requested by the Senior Technical Manager, acknowledging experience, education and ability.
Who we're looking for
An IT Services Manager with large scale event experience, and the ability to project manage all aspects of technology surrounding such an event. Specifically;
Qualifications and experience<
• Educated to degree level or equivalent (either qualifications and/or experience).
• Experience of planning, implementing and managing Information Technology systems for large scale events.
• Relevant project management qualification and/or experience.
• Experience of working with external contractors/suppliers to implement Information Technology solutions in large venues/premises.
• Experience of working with contractors/suppliers to deliver outsourced work.
• Experience of managing budgets.
Knowledge and skills
• Understanding of the complexities of working in an event environment.
• Ability to manage own varied workload, prioritise accordingly and meet deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to effectively interact with and respond to a wide range of people at a variety of levels.
• Proficient in the use of IT applications.
