East Anglia
Permanent
Updated March 26, 2012
The successful candidate will be responsible for all site operations with a team of 7 managers covering Production Operations, Continuous Improvement, Planning, Engineering, HR and HSE. This is a large and autonomous role but can be extended in the future for the right candidate to also cover UK and International logistics operations. The Plant Manager will also participate in continuing relationships with my client's retail customers and will play a key role in sustaining confidence amongst their customers, that the plant is in control of quality and service.
Key challenges:
• Lead an intervention in safety performance to eliminate lost time accidents and minor injuries.
• End-to-end quality systems intervention (supported by the QA manager) to produce "right first time" quality, and to provide confidence that we are shipping right quality to our customers.
• Improve operating reliability to sustainably achieve 98.5% customer service
• Improve labour efficiency to reduce headcount across direct and indirect areas
• Think and propose ways to cope with the volatility of promotional activities with the trade that would create a competitive advantage for my client
Who we're looking for
• A track record at leading change in a large manufacturing operation, taking high quality decisions and delivering tangible results, including cost savings.
• Proven leadership skills (inspiration, motivation and credibility through technical expertise) and an ability to build effective teams. The ability to deliver through people to achieve targets is important.
• The candidate must have experience in a fast paced FMCG environment where they have achieved process improvements (TPM, lean manufacturing). S/he will need to be self-sufficient, able to set strategy yet also become involved in the operational detail where necessary.
• Experience in dealing with major retailers.
• Liquids processing and bottling experience would be advantageous but not essential if the right alternative FMCG operations experience can be demonstrated.
