The role of the Senior Communications Manageris to plan, develop and manage implementation of both internal and external communications activities in line with the UK sector/business strategy and business needs. To translate business strategy into innovative and high impact communications plans and campaigns that positively influence the intended audiences and result in measurable business benefit, as defined in KPIs.
Responsible for managing the delivery of activities agreed with the division under service level agreement (SLA) and in line with UK and global communications plans and governance. Cultivates a positive working environment by being integral to the division's management team and works with the heads of specialist communications disciplines. Responsible for the agreement, creation and delivery of projects and plans within activity timelines and budgets by their own team and agreeing appropriate resource allocation with the heads of specialist communications disciplines in the cross sector communication disciplines e.g. media relations.
• A senior trusted business partner, adviser and consultant to the divisional head and management team.
• Work with thedivision's management team to develop appropriate strategic and tactical internal and external communications plans based on the business goals and strategy and in conjunction with the heads of specialist communications disciplines. Develop communications plans in line with the division's budgeting rounds, including budget planning, resource requirements, activity schedules, tracking, measures and owners.
• Communicate the vision & strategy developed by the division's management team and develop messaging that will positively influence the division and stakeholder needs, as well as business performance. As a consequence, is measured against agreed KPIs, which will
include the overall goals and success of the division.
• Develop a full understanding of the market conditions, customer needs and expectations, key organisations, trade bodies and appropriate communications channels and media to be able to recommend, enable and influence communications activities and delivery. Support
customer-based initiatives by being involved in, for example, trade association/industry body meetings, conferences and exhibitions, site visits and customer organisational groups/boards etc.
Who we're looking for
• Educated to degree level or professionally qualified (NCTJ/ CIPR) and experience in a similar role.
• Considerable experience of Marketing Communications and Internal Communications and knowledge of the specific sector environment or similar environment is essential.
• Needs to understand the broad concept of the technology of the sector
• Should be master of all trades, with broad understanding and experience of all elements of communications mix
• Needs to be creative in order to deliver great quality work within modest budgets
• Ability to manage demanding situations and meet deadlines.
• Able to work across organisations to meet goals and objectives whilst cultivating a positive environment
• Good organisational skills with ability to juggle many priorities to meet deadlines within budget.
• Experience of managing and motivating teams and working with virtual teams.
• Experience working either directly in or across international cultures would be useful.
• Experience of different corporate or business cultures helpful.
• Knowledge of all communications disciplines
