• Complete &/or review VAT returns, intrastat returns and accompanying analysis and working papers ensuring submitted on time.
• Review monthly VAT GL account reconciliations to ensure accounts are in line with returns submitted and that outstanding amounts are being paid or recovered on a timely basis
• Implement a regular process of post return reviews to identify errors and / or improvement opportunities
• Coordinate process and procedure improvements by working within the team and with other teams, such as the Finance Systems & IT teams
• Work with Business teams to build knowledge of existing and new product flows, and to advise them on current or completed transactions
• When a VAT issue is discovered, work with the relevant people to solve the issue, taking guidance where necessary from advisors
• Prepare files for tax audits.
• Liaise with external advisors on a regular basis where they are engaged to provide a routine service, or on an ad hoc basis as necessary
Who we're looking for
Essential Experience, Skills and Background:
• Knowledge of European VAT and specific knowledge of completing VAT returns • Sufficient accounting knowledge to complete and review GL VAT account reconciliations in multiple currencies • Knowledge and ability to use SAP, ability to prepare routine reports and to run ad-hoc reports/queries as required • Excel user, able to compare and contrast data from different reports to confirm completeness and identify errors; able to
