Senior Communications Officer

The Senior Communications Officer will have the responsibility of raising the external profile of Cynnal Cymru's activities, identifying stories to gain exposure in the media and through digital media. Excellent copywriting skills and the ability to communicate bilingually sustainable development information in a way that effectively engages with stakeholders are key requirements for this role.

Key Responsibilities:
• To be responsible for managing Cynnal Cymru's reputation by building and maintaining positive relationships with the media and stakeholders.
• To manage and support public relations and marketing activity including events and campaigns.
• To write, proofread, edit and issue press release to media contacts.
• To develop, build and maintain relationships with media contacts.
• To support the publication of related brochures, reports and publicity materials.
• To research and produce innovate and creative case studies relevant to Cynnal Cymru's activities.
• To be responsible for researching and drafting copy for Cynnal Cymru's website and e-zines.
• To develop and maintain the press office information systems covering, enquiries, press releases, public statements, photographs, factual material, press cuttings, new media.
• To work closely with the Digital Marketing Officer to relay news quickly and effectively through social media channels.
• Advise on Welsh language communications and the needs of Welsh audiences and help develop campaigns tailored to Welsh language audiences.

Who we're looking for
The role of Senior Communications Officer requires a individual who is passionate and determined and who will relish the opportunity of working in a vibrant and ambitious team.

Key Attributes and Skills:
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English and Welsh.
• Strong knowledge of the Welsh media.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills (English and Welsh), including the ability to write articles and high quality copy for a range of audiences.
• Excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a range of people.
• Extensive experience of working in a media environment and working with journalists.
• Strong track record of delivering media coverage.
• Experience of working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience of acting as a media spokesperson.
• Experience of communicating complex issues through the media.
• Experience of writing and presenting information for a wide variety of audiences and publications.
