Practice (Not Tax)

London

Permanent ⁄ £85000

Updated June 12, 2008

The Financial Reporting Council, the unified independent regulator for auditing, accounting and actuarial practice in the UK, is seeking staff to join the Financial Reporting Review Panel (FRRP) team. FRRP's role is to ensure that the provision of financial information by companies complies with relevant accounting requirements. Its wide remit, embracing annual accounts, interim reports and directors' reports means that the Panel has a need for additional experienced qualified accountants with excellent knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP.

The Panel operates by making enquiries into apparent departures from reporting requirements, both through correspondence and by face-to-face meetings with company chairmen and directors. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential to operate effectively in this high profile environment. Reporting to the Director of Panel Operations, responsibilities include:

•Reviewing and making recommendations on company reports
and accounts.
•Drafting letters and analysing responses from companies.
•Attending meetings with company representatives.
•Ad-hoc project and research work, giving presentations.

This is a chance to work in a stimulating and challenging environment at a time when there is a public focus on the enforcement of accounting standards and the quality of financial reporting in a global context. You will have the opportunity to make a real contribution to the quality of financial reporting in the UK. The Financial Reporting Council offers an excellent remuneration package, including generous pension benefit and 30 days annual leave.
