Audit Inspection Unit (Full time and Part time)

This is an opportunity to join the staff of the Financial Reporting Council (FRC), the UK's independent regulator responsible for promoting confidence in corporate reporting and governance.

As a member of the AIU inspection team, you will lead/ participate in inspections of major audit firms (primarily the Big 4 and second-tier firms in the UK). You will review the firms processes and audit methodologies and meet with Senior Partners and staff.

You will also review audits of listed and other major public interest entities, including the key judgments made in reaching the audit opinion. You will report on your findings to firms senior management and regulatory committees.

AIU inspection team members perform a variety of challenging work and gain a unique insight into the operations of the major audit firms. They also gain the professional satisfaction of working to enhance audit quality in the UK.

Who we're looking for
These positions require a high level of relevant knowledge and experience and the ability to operate effectively at senior levels in a professional environment. Successful candidates are likely to be members of ICAEW, ACCA, ICAS or ICAI with experience at Audit Senior Manager or Director level in public practice. Strong candidates with experience at Audit Manager level in a major firm will also be considered.

Experience in the financial services sector would be advantageous. All candidates must have a thorough knowledge of the auditing of listed companies/other major entities and a commitment to promoting high quality auditing in the public interest.

The ability to engage successfully with Senior Audit Partners on key audit issues and challenge their judgments where appropriate is essential.

The Audit Inspection Unit (AIU) is responsible for monitoring the quality of all listed and other major public interest audits, and the processes and procedures of the major audit firms. It is committed to helping to improve the quality of auditing in the public interest. Following on expansion of its work, new opportunities exist for experienced and committed Audit Senior Managers or Directors to join the AIU team on a full or part time basis.
