The transaction support group aims to assist clients throughout the whole transaction process. Whilst financial due diligence is a key element of the service, transaction support is much broader, incorporating assistance with strategic assessment, including commercial due diligence, transaction management, negotiation and documentation, and post-completion integration.
Transactions vary from IPOs on AIM to high profile multinational acquisitions.
The work is principally in the UK (and mostly in and around the South of England), although there are opportunities for overseas travel. Accountabilities:
- Build on and develop internal and external networks through personal contacts.
- Understand the capabilities of the firm and look for opportunities to sell additional services to our clients.
- Play a role in business plan initiatives (e.g. key accounts, recruitment, client service framework).
- Being a true business advisor to the client.
- Understanding the key business drivers, co-developing our approach with the client, agreeing value measurements with the client, providing value to the client through insights, factual conclusions and advice.
- Establishing oneself as a key client contact, as well as regular liaison with the target, will form a large part of most projects.
- Project managing the team and working closely with its members, sharing responsibility for the project, providing support, and communicating all issues, conclusions and progress.
- Liaise effectively with other departments within Ernst & Young and with other advisors.
- Take responsibility for own learning and development, provide coaching to others, and participate in upward feedback.
- May also act as counselling manager to more junior staff.
- Involves gathering, verifying and analysing information, and formulating views.
- Planning and monitoring the progress of the team and drawing conclusions from issues raised and addressing any problems with client in a timely manner.
- Plan, prepare and review deliverables in various forms including written reports, presentations and discussions with the client.
- Share your technical and other knowledge with your team and the department.
Who we're looking for
Personal Qualities:
- Highly numerate with strong attention to detail
- Logical and methodical approach
- Change-orientated
- Excellent communicator, both oral and written
- Team player
- Effective time manager, able to keep calm when under pressure to meet deadlines
- Project management skills
- Evidence of report writing skills / reviewing skills
- Presentation skills and evidence of relevant networking would be desirable.
- Counselling skills would be desirable, though not essential
Experience/Qualifications:
- 3 Bs at A level (or equivalent)
- 2.1 / 2.2 degree or MBA plus financial knowledge
- CA (or equivalent)
- Second language would be desirable
