The Group Internal Audit Department has responsibility for delivering an effective and independent risk based programme of internal audits across the Company's five operating divisions (Infrastructure, Real Estate, Operating Leasing, Structured Finance and Corporate Finance), its central support functions (including Risk Management, Legal, Compliance, Finance, HR, IT) and its Specialised Funds and Asset Management platform. The department also has responsibility for providing the board and executive management with assurance that internal controls are adequately designed and operating in a manner that maximises the effectiveness and efficiency of the Company's global operations, safeguards its assets, ensures reliability and integrity of its financial reporting and avoids breaches of applicable laws and regulations.
Due to global business growth, Babcock & Brown are looking to expand their Group Internal Audit Department. A number of outstanding senior opportunities have arisen within the department. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to add significant value to the business at this critical stage in its development.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Reporting to the Group Head of Internal Audit (Sydney based) or Regional Head of Internal Audit for Senior Auditors.
- Assisting with the development and implementation of strategic initiatives within the Group Internal Audit Department.
- Assisting in the early identification of emerging control issues.
- Timely reporting to senior management and the Audit and Risk Management Committee.
- Responsibility for establishing and executing a risk-based internal audit plan for the region.
- Planning, executing and reporting on individual audit assignments and project reviews.
- Working closely with other internal auditors around the globe.
- Providing a consultative approach to regional senior management on all risk management and internal control issues.
- Partnering and establishing strong relationships with business unit and support function staff whilst maintaining independence.
- Maintaining close and effective relationships with regional regulators and external auditors.
- Fostering a business climate and culture that encourages integrity, honesty, respect, diversity, excellence and innovation.
Who we're looking for
The successful candidates will have the following qualifications and attributes:
- A bachelors degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
- An ACA / CA / CPA qualification is highly desirable.
- Significant business and/or audit experience in Infrastructure, Real Estate or Operation Leasing.
- Knowledge of risk management and internal control in a global financial services / private equity environment.
- Proficiency in risk analysis and audit report preparation.
- Excellent communication (written and spoken), interpersonal and diplomacy skills required.
- Strength of character in presenting complex and sensitive issues to senior management.
- Enthusiastic, self motivated and effective under pressure.
- Proven leadership skills at a senior level.
- Creative thinker with the capacity to manage, motivate and encourage others.
- Work well individually and in teams, share information, support colleagues and encourage participation.
- Flexibility to travel frequently, as required.
- Fluency in European languages (ideally German) is highly desirable for London based candidates.
