Contract Manager (Business Development)

Public Sector

London

Permanent ⁄ £31000 - £33000

Updated November 22, 2006

Looking for a move away from Private Sector sales? Southwark College is looking for a proven business developer to join their recently formed Enterprise Team. There is a huge change in the Public Sector as the government looks to revise the way that Further Education colleges are funded - they are now tasked with proactively marketing and selling training programmes in order to bring in additional revenue. In 5 years time the government wants colleges to be 40% self-sufficient.

Southwark College is one of the first institutions to put together a team of people whose role it is to proactively seek business for the college. The college has a huge range of training programmes / educational courses that it is able to utilise and sell. What they need is somebody to come in and work closely with the Enterprise Manager to put together a strategy for the growth and progression of this vital area of the business. This is an interesting role in a quality location - 5 minutes from the river, 2 minutes from the tube and Waterloo Station.

Who we're looking for
We are looking for someone who can sell at a consultative level and put together solutions for client needs and requirements. It is very much a relationship led sell, requiring you to have excellent questioning skills to uncover potential business opportunities. You will ideally have Private Sector business development experience with an appreciation and understanding of the Public Sector.

About our client
Southwark College is close to the cultural and creative heart of London. This particular role is based at their Waterloo Centre which is situated close to the River Thames and the South Bank area, a vibrant area hosting many sights, museums, restaurants and galleries.

What's on offer
£33,081 Basic £2,000 OTE
