Our client is a strategic joint venture between 2 of the largest consultancies in Europe, providing a fully integrated strategic management service to the Highways Agency. The joint venture reflects the Highways Agency's vision of future network operation and maintenance by offering best practice in all aspects of design, supervision and technical practice.
They currently require a Structures Design Engineer to provide services to their major client, the Highways Agency, plus their growing list of local government and private sector partners.
Proactive role within the Design team to assist in the development of Structures schemes, develop design options and prepare documentation.
Key responsibilities
• Develop design concepts and solutions
• Develop drawings, calculations, spreadsheets and reports
Duties
• Prepare and check design calculations
• Liaise with in-house design teams/media teams
• Carry out Principle, General and Special Inspections
• Use and update the Structures Management Information System (SMIS) database
Who we're looking for
Essential:
• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Good analytical and reporting skills, good organisation skills and computer literacy
• To work to deadlines
• Desirable
• Knowledge of the Highways Agency 'Design Manual for Roads and Bridges' (DMRB)
• Knowledge of Health and Safety, CDM Regulations etc
• Full driving licence, ability to work at height and in confined spaces
