Updated August 24, 2008
Our client's Infrastructure Advisory team focuses on Public Private Partnerships (PPP) projects including Private Finance Initiative (PFI) in the UK. The team is focussed on providing advice regarding PFI and PPP projects across a range of market sectors, including regeneration, housing and property development.
As a member of this team you will work within small client-focused teams to provide technical input and client support as required. You will be involved in a number of projects at any one time, and will manage medium sized assignments reporting directly to Directors and Assistant Directors. As part of feasibility studies, you will critically assess new projects and commercially appraise options. Your role will then be to advise public sector clients and private sector consortia on bid strategies, by providing detailed financial analysis, and in support of bid submissions. As part of this process, you will negotiate terms, conditions and prices with potential funders and capital market underwriters for project finance. In addition, you will be responsible for developing and editing financial input into PFI bids and attending meetings with clients and other advisors.
Your responsibilities may also include:
• within a multidisciplinary team, developing procurement strategies and documentation for distribution to bidders;
• presenting to clients and generating complex reports to convey conclusions and arguments to them;
• articulating problems in a clear and succinct manner;
• developing and using complex financial models and advising clients on financial structures, viability , valuations, sensitivity and scenario analysis;
• reviewing, analysing and evaluating bids received for projects on behalf of project sponsors;
• deriving sales proposals to target clients, attending and participating in sales presentations, seminars etc; and
• being involved in internal activities ranging from recruitment to communications strategies.
Who we're looking for
Ideally, you will be a qualified surveyor, who has a good grasp of the property development and property finance market. You will likely have been working for a property developer or property agent and will have had exposure to major housing, mixed use and commercial development projects. You may have also worked with many of the leading development and funding players in the market.
This is also an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified accountant to take their career in a new direction, and gain commercial and project management skills in doing so.
Whatever the case, you will have experience in providing advice to internal or external clients, and of the UK public services. You will also strong presentation skills, and have experience developing and applying business planning and option appraisal. In addition, you will be analytical in your approach and a strong team player. Well developed oral and written communication skills, and an ability to build effective working relationships with individuals, organisations and clients are essential - as is a high degree of personal drive and motivation to succeed.
