Banking Lawyer

Working under supervision, your responsibilities will include:

• Advising banks and other corporate and institutional clients (both borrowers and lenders) on all aspects of banking law, funding and security issues
• Support work for corporate department on funding issues in mergers and acquisitions work
• Due diligence on behalf of funders in respect of corporate acquisitions including preparation of due diligence reports
• Advising HE and FE institutions on funding agreements, including due diligence on constitutional issues and powers
• Being actively involved in assisting with marketing to new and existing clients and responsible for developing and sustaining relationships directly with clients
• Taking full responsibility for own workload
• Team development

Who we're looking for
• Experience in Corporate Banking or Corporate Finance
• Excellent written English for drafting purposes
• Ability to build relationships with clients and potential clients
• Good research and IT skills, including an ability to use online information sources
• Negotiating skills
• Excellent interpersonal and team skills, including ability to work with others, influence and persuade
• Numeracy
• Participates actively in business development activities, including developing new approaches to market the firm's expertise
• Ambitious and keen to join an expanding team
• A sense of humour

About our client
One of the leading firms in Cambridge and a Top 50 UK national firm. The Banking Team is experiencing rapid expansion with a complex and highly demanding quantity of high quality work. The team led by Will Roles, is now the largest banking team in the Eastern Region (ranked number one in both Legal 500 and Chambers for 2006/7) and is looking to recruit a corporate banking solicitor.
The Banking Team consists of 4 Partners, 2 Associates, 4 Solicitors, 2 Legal Executives and 1 Paralegal, of which 3 Partners, 1 Associate, 1 Solicitor and 1 Legal Executive are based in Cambridge.
