Personal Tax Manager

The primary focus of the role is the provision of tax advice to clients of the firm's Inverness and Elgin offices including the preparation of letters, reports and detailed Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax computations.
• The main areas of tax advice will cover Inheritance Tax, The Taxation of Trusts, Capital Gains Tax Planning issues and Non-residence issues with assistance from a more senior tax specialist, if required.
• Dealing with tax advisory issues that may arise for example, purchase of own shares or trading in property.
• Providing advice on other taxes e.g. corporation tax, VAT & SDLT and how they may impact on any transaction.
•Respond to tax queries from Partners and Client Relationship Managers.
• Completion and review of Trust Tax Returns.
• Completion of Inheritance Tax Forms, e.g. IHT 100.
• Drafting of internal tax updates for non-tax specialists.
Furthermore, you will be responsible for engagement management, employee development and mentorship, as well as developing new business for the firm in the Inverness/Elgin area.
Who we're looking for
• Newly CTA qualified, or working towards the CTA qualification or ATT qualified with extensive technical experience.
• Considerable experience of working in private client tax role
• Previous exposure to private client advisory work, including writing tax advice letters.
• Good technical skills and knowledge of a wide range of private client tax issues including Inheritance Tax and CGT
• Strong ability to communicate at all levels, both internally to partners and other staff, and externally to clients.
• Confident and assertive.
• Conscientious and well organised.
• Places emphasis on quality of work delivered whilst working to budgets and deadlines.
• Commercially aware and is able to identify planning opportunities for clients and market them.
