The purpose of this role is to manage and shape the ongoing Force diversity strategy and support action plans to ensure the Force is compliant with required Equality and Diversity legislation.
You will be the custodian of developing appropriate policies and providing specialist advice to the Force relating to all aspects of Force Equality Schemes and Service Delivery, in line with employment legislative requirements, national recommendations and good employment practice.
Your main responsibilities will be;
• Equality Scheme Co-ordination
Develop new and review existing Equality Schemes and plans;
• Monitor Progress
Organise and maintain a monitoring process to record updates against actions on diversity related plans;
• Report on progress and provide response
Research and compile legally stipulated progress reports to the force and provide analysis of statistical information; making recommendations for action.
• Policy, Guidance, research and networking
Develop policy, guidance and training materials in respect of diversity issues,
Provide an Equal Opportunity and Policy advisory service to the Force Executive, line Managers, staff and Special Constables,
Remain aware of local and national diversity related requirements and developments,
Establish and maintain local and national contact network to ensure expertise remains current.
Who we're looking for
You will have a good knowledge and a proven record of understanding Equality and Diversity within an organisation and have a clear handle on employment law and current legislation.
You will have experience in writing business action plans and strategy documents as well as co-ordinating and writing progress and monitoring reports.
You will have excellent written, verbal and numeric communication skills. Additionally, you will be very organised and have a talent of negotiating and influencing others.
You will have worked in a challenging environment and have the ability to adapt to a varying workforce.
You will be passionate about Equality and Diversity in the workplace.
