Senior Software Designer

The role holder will be responsible for the transformation of requirements into software designs including the development and maintenance of designs documentation and negotiating technical requirements with various stakeholders.
In addition the role willinvolve:
• Analysing requirements with Business Analysts and Customer Stakeholders and producing designs at a detailed level to define the software solution.
• Ensuring an end-to-end design by working with other architecture and development authorities to develop a detailed design aligned with system evolution plans.
• Ensuring conformance with our client's standards for design covering document and source control, release and deployment policies.
• Providing support to operational staff in diagnosing and resolving problems.
• Liaising with Service Management and other areas of Operations to develop appropriate support models and ensure operational considerations are included in the design.
• Ensuring that platform and service deliverables are extensible, resilient, scalable and tuned for performance.

Who we're looking for
The ideal candidate will have:
• A degree or equivalent (or relevant industry experience) in a technical course or related subject.
• Demonstrable experience in design of high volume transactional internet or e-learning systems and services in a commercial environment.
• Demonstrable experience in software development.
• Good knowledge of UML, Design Patterns and Use Case based techniques.
• Knowledge of internet and networking technologies and protocols.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines in a technical environment.
• Excellent analysis and design skills.
• Excellent technical writing skills.
• Experience of building enterprise applications exploiting multi-tier architectures.
• Experience of two or more development processes, e.g. Prototyping, Agile or RUP.
