As Severn Trent enters a debt raising programme which will cover a wide variety of markets and make it one of the largest players in this area over the coming year, the Deputy Group Treasurer will play a key part in developing and shaping the function to provide best-in-class support to the Group's operations.
Working closely with the Group Treasurer, the role will encompass:
• Controlling Treasury operations
• Working closely with the Group Treasurer to ensure best practice in policies and procedures
• Developing Treasury reporting for monitoring operational efficiency and position reporting to the Board
• Ensuring the optimum use of the Group's surplus funds to obtain optimal returns in-line with liquidity and risk policies
• Providing advice and guidance throughout the Group on Treasury related matters such as funding, cash management and risk management
• Providing support to the Group Treasurer on project work (structured finance, debt issues etc) and deputising in his absence
• Assisting in identifying, arranging and managing internal and external funding to fulfil the overall financing requirements of the Group
• Developing strong and supportive relationships with the senior management of the Group's operations
• Making recommendations and providing Treasury management advice to contribute to decisions and activities of other head office teams e.g. tax, financial accounting, property, regulatory
• Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with banks and advisers
• Managing a small team to ensure a consistent, high quality, cost effective Treasury service is provided to the group
Who we're looking for
Ideally you'll be degree qualified with a relevant commercial qualification (MCT, ACA, ACMA or MBA), and have previous experience in a Treasury management capacity. With an excellent understanding of risk management and funding, we'll expect you to bring strong analytical skills coupled with a demonstrable track record of adding value and building long standing relationships. Solutions and results driven, you?ll also be a strong communicator and have the ability to influence at all levels.
