Managing Director

South Wales based, some national and international travel

Reporting to the Group Finance Director, the Managing Director will provide strategic and operational leadership to a £45m business unit employing c.400 people. This is an exciting and challenging role that will require a balance between operations and commercial functions in order to succeed. The remit will include:

• Functional control of the operations senior team, managing and leading a large, diversified workforce.
• Ownership of the international sales strategy including existing customers and new business development.
• Change management, including lean transformation in line with FKI Group objectives for continuous improvement.
• Commitment to delivering the P&L within the 3 year business plan through customer growth/diversification and manufacturing cost reduction.
• Maintain effective relationships across the business, acting as a figurehead for the operation and driving improved productivity, turnover and profitability.
• Comply with all Health, Safety & Environmental requirements, promoting best practice and commitment to regulatory compliance.

Who we're looking for
The preferred candidate will have already operated as a senior functional Director or General Manager within an established manufacturing business. Ideally you will have held remits that include sales, operations and financial oversight and responsibility. Your background is likely to include:

• International experience, with a core focus in manufacturing led businesses.
• The capability to get the best out of a skilled, diverse workforce through focussed leadership and deliver continuous improvement within manufacturing.
• Commercial credibility evidenced by considerable exposure to sales growth in previous roles, preferably technical product and heavy manufacture orientated.
• Natural leadership attributes with a commitment to developing the performance of those around you.
• Proven track record of achievement against demanding business objectives.
