Logistics Distribution Manager

Overall purpose:
To provide direction, leadership and general management for the successful operation, development and growth of the UK Supply distribution and logistics functions.
To optimise all operations supporting the receipt, storage, issuing and shipment of finished goods to Spirax Sarco's worldwide customer base.
Under the guidance of the Head of UK Supply Strategic Purchasing, to achieve agreed key performance indicator targets, objectives and standards in relation to the distribution, storage and shipment control of finished products.

Key strategic responsibilities:
• Close liaison with the UK Supply management team on transposing strategic plans into operational ones
• Development and implementation of a warehouse and distribution transformation strategy
• Development and implementation of a logistics and transportation strategy for both UK and Group (in conjunction with UK Supply and Group Purchasing Council), ensuring optimum value from both external suppliers and internal resources.

Key operational responsibilities:
• Lead, motivate, coach and manage a diverse team
• Close liaison with other key functional areas within the business to ensure effective integration of activities
• Proactively ensure that all orders (including certification where required) are despatched in accordance with acknowledged delivery times
• Continuously review and improve processes and methods in order to achieve effective utilisation of labour and world class service provision
• Manage and control costs within agreed limits, ranging from waste recovery costs to freight charges
• Communicate effectively with both Customer and Supplier bases
• Ensure that all health and safety requirements are in place and adhered to, participating in health and safety meetings as appropriate

Who we're looking for
• Significant experience of managing a high volume warehouse and distribution environment with automation and multi SKU's.
• An effective leader and motivator who actively encourages continuous improvement and team development through coaching
• A contributor on a strategic level but equally effective managing day to day operational activities
• A clear communicator, good at managing internal and external relationships in order to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction
• The ability to work in cross functional teams in pursuit of business goals and to lead projects where appropriate
• A working knowledge of health and safety within a warehouse environment
• Strong IT skills with particular emphasis on inventory control
• Previous experience of MRP implementation is an advantage
