This Big 4 Accounts Practice is currently recruiting audit professionals for their rapidly-expanding Bermuda practice. As Audit Senior--Insurance you will gain world-class experience with key leaders in the insurance industry, exposing you to some of the most challenging and innovative products in the market. You will work on a wide portfolio of clients including some of the world's largest corporations and captive insurance companies, as well as a significant number of Bermuda based insurance and reinsurance entities with multinational operations.
Seniors will predominantly be assigned to captive insurance clients and a growing number of global reinsurance clients. You will have responsibility for the entire audit process from planning through to completion. Key responsibilities will include:
• Supervise financial reporting and Statutory filing and compliance assurance engagements of clients
• Apply technical knowledge of US GAAP, Canadian GAAP, International Accounting Standards, SEC and The Bermuda Insurance Act (as applicable) to enable effective completion of audit engagements.
• Supervise multiple concurrent engagements with professional staff and direct the preparation and completion of reports, accounts and financial statements.
• Ensure quality in delivering client service by directing daily progress of fieldwork, reporting directly to managers and partners of engagement status, and managing performance of assistants.
• Conduct risk and business cycle analysis of clients' business to develop appropriate audit plans to address identified risks and to ensure accurate reporting.
• Be involved in the process of providing advice and assistance to clients on issues relating to accounting, taxation (if applicable), internal controls, and regulatory and financial reporting.
• Mentor assistants by counselling and assisting them in the management of all aspects of their work lives and in obtaining their career objectives.
• Contribute to the development of assistants through on-the-job and in-house training and development courses.
Who we're looking for
• Successful candidates MUST possess an internationally-recognised accounting qualification such as the ACA/ACCA/CPA.
• You must have in-charge or senior experience with a strong track-record in audit.
• Ability to produce and review complex financial statements and proposals.
• Familiarity with US/Canadian GAAP and/or IFRS is preferred.
