Reporting to the Area Manufacturing Manager the Cell Leader will be responsible for managing a team of up to approximately 30 people in the efficient filling, assembly & packing of live ammunition / projectiles. The cell leader will ensure full compliance with all aspects of SHE, and that the product is produced to the specified cost / quality requirements whilst adhering to the Manufacturing Schedule.
• Driving the health and safety culture using the site procedures and legislation as well by demonstrating behavioural safety awareness.
• Ensuring environmental compliance throughout the manufacturing process.
• A front line management position with responsibility for a multi-discipline team.
• Driving a change culture using continuous improvement processes, in order to improve the engagement of the workforce.
• Responsible for all aspects of production management and quality.
• Compliance monitoring of operating procedures.
• Local management of team budget for direct fixed costs - overtime, sickness, training.
You will be responsible for driving forward production levels. You should have a good approach to planning and organisation and you should be able to effectively use these skills to deliver the business results.
Who we're looking for
A proven people manager, with experience in a batch production environment. You will be a time served Engineer and have a good understanding of process improvement. You will be results driven and have a good background in developing teams you have headed. You will have a high level of determination and a strong but fair approach to the management of your team.
• Candidates must be qualified to HNC level in Engineering or equivalent discipline, or have suitable manufacturing experience.
• A qualification relating to SHE is desirable but not essential as the opportunity to develop skills & knowledge will be provided
• Will have served a relevant engineering based apprenticeship/equivalent experience
• Knowledge of general manufacturing methods and process tools & techniques
