European Finance Director

The successful candidate will report to the International Managing Director (London based) & Chief Financial Officer (US based - head office). You will be responsible for reporting on all International operations in the UK, Spain, France, Italy, Belgium, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and Buenos Aires.
In addition you will have the following responsibilities:

•Establish and maintain appropriate internal controls, accounting systems and reporting processes to provide management with relevant and timely financial and accounting information for effective decision making.
•Provide financial stewardship by attending management and Board meetings and being a key member of the management team. Identify weaknesses and opportunities for change and implement recommendations.
•Assist the International Managing Director in driving delivery of profitability targets through influencing managers as appropriate.
•Development and implementation of a financial strategy and targets to maximise potential growth.
•Assist the International Managing Director in strategic decisions. Provide information to assess the costs and benefits of strategic decisions.
•Review the monthly matrix reports by country, industry area, practice area and staff level for presentation to management.
•Lead the finance team in providing a quality level of Finance support for management, which is held in high regard both within the LECG International group and by Group in the US.
•Maintain operational processes to be followed by accounting staff. Supervise personnel and monitor performance. Manage the International Financial Controller including preparation of a career development plan, undertaking an annual performance appraisal, and identifying training needs.
•Travel to each International office as necessary to ensure adequate management and financial control over both the company and the outsourced accounting firm. Undertake quarterly business reviews of each International location.

Who we're looking for
This role will suit a highly intelligent qualified accountant who is looking to make a move into a Finance Director position. In addition you will possess the following:

•High educational standard to degree level or equivalent with an understanding of all current accounting issues. Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and / or IFRS essential - knowledge of other GAAP's including US GAAP
•Qualified accountant with experience as a Financial Controller and / or Finance Director beneficial.
•Experience of accounting for a multi-location cross-border entity, preferably within a professional services environment.
•Highly motivated by achievement and performing to high standards. Ability to work effectively with high energy and be flexible to change.
•Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to identify and implement high value changes and / or solutions.
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to build effective relationships (including cross border relationships) and manage multiple requirements. Proven ability to navigate through complex environments.
•Fluent in English - other languages including Spanish, Italian and French beneficial.
