Sourcing Manager - Mechanics

Due to double digit growth and market success, my client, a world leading design and developer of high end mobile phone handsets, are now looking to recruit a Sourcing Manager for Mechanics, to strategically develop their supplier base, offering best technology, cost, quality, process.

Key Responsibilities:
• Management of all supplier related activities within product development to ensure program milestones are met to time and to target.
• Development of appropriate Sourcing solutions to ensure programme milestones / targets are met
• Promote the business within a global supply base.
Objectives of role:
• Provide technical and Sourcing expertise / leadership within company development programmes.
• Drive, and input to supplier selection within company programmes in accordance with local and global supply strategies.
• Ensures timely access to technology / supplier selection within product programmes ensuring strong cost reduction / capability / technology evolution.
• Ensuring Supplier capability to meet all business needs
• Capacity creation / management (Product development through to ramp up)
• Management of supplier cost models to ensure all cost drivers are identified and optimised.
• Implementation of logistics models.
• Creation and maintenance of global tooling plans.
• Preparation of analysis and calculations for optimising the selection of suppliers and components within product development programmes.
• Co ordination of supplier evaluation, assessments and audits with SDE.
• Negotiation, agreement and management of supply contracts and development agreements.
• Maintenance of commodity trends and market intelligence.
• Supply chain risk assessment and management.
• Facilitate early supplier involvement within company development programmes.
• Implementation of continuous improvement plans (cost, quality, process, lead time, service)
• Collaborate with parent company global SLM teams.

Who we're looking for
You will have knowledge of sourcing mechanical components and assemblies (Stainless steel, titanium, aluminium, plastics, metals)

• General understanding of metals / mechanical suppliers within the luxury industry and materials used.
• Technical understanding of manufacturing processes used within the metals and mechanics industry (forging, stamping, machining, milling, MiM, extrusion, welding, turning, finishing (polish, brush, sandblast)
• Working knowledge of worldwide sources of above mentioned manufacturing processes
• Technical understanding of processes used in combining and finishing varying metals / materials (laser welding, engraving, polishing)
• In-depth knowledge of costing principles and the ability to breakdown and analyse process / material costs.
• Existing relationship with global sources of mechanical design, engineering and manufacturing.
• Exposure of working with international partners in the following areas:
• Process improvements.
• Improvement of quality and efficiency of production methods.
• Liaison regarding future product developments.
• Resolution of technical production and materials issues
