The client is looking to recruit a Senior Buyer to their Headquarters in Dorset. This person will be responsible for sourcing commodities and components, placing importance on price, quality, delivery and reliability. The key responsibilities include

• Raising enquiries on present and potential Suppliers, resolve technical problems associated with method of production and evaluate quotations. Place orders with selected Suppliers and supply where necessary free issue parts and drawings/specifications.
• Sourcing new suppliers as required.
• Carrying out cost reviews on programme work.
• Liaising with internal stakeholders such as research and development to ensure manufacture is being undertaken to design specifications andto enable make vs... buy decisions.
• Producing costing estimates for components for use on new products.
• Ensuring suppliers respond to set lead times within timescale required by project schedules.
• Progressing of all sub-contract parts.
• Resolve any invoice queries.

Who we're looking for
The successful candidate:
• Must be able to ensure internal departments respond to achieve timely completion of activities.
• Must have the ability to communicate to suppliers and stakeholders of all levels in verbal and written form with regards to specific programme requirements
• Must work to tight contract schedules requiring timely delivery.
• Must be methodical and self-motivated and able to work without direction.
• Must have good commercial, financial and general engineering knowledge.
• Must have knowledge of management of engineering contracts
