Legal Services Manager

Charity

London

Temp ⁄ Fantastic basic plus benefits

Updated June 20, 2008

You will have 10-12 people reporting directly to you in the form of 8-10 legal officers supported by two team leaders and as such must have solid management experience combined with a natural flair for the role. The role can be basically divided into three fields; 1. Providing advice and support by email, phone and face to face with caseworkers around the UK; 2. Providing both initial and update training to caseworkers, and; 3. Handling your own asylum and immigration caseload. As this role is a new role, it is a fantastic opportunity for the right individual to really make their mark on the organisation. As part of the regional management team, you could be expected to travel up to twice a month to locations around the UK, Leeds being the farthest distance from London. You must have proven yourself to have fantastic management skills and have some knowledge / experience of legal aid. You preferably will have worked in asylum / immigration / refugee law before, but will definitely have a passion for the area

Who we're looking for
• A strong willed and passionate manager with a proven track record of managing a medium sized team
• Experience of Legal Aid
• Ability to liaise with people from across the organisation including peers in international offices
• Previous experience as a PSL or training lawyers / managing law centres would be very beneficial.
• A current practising certificate is not required
