Commodity Manager - Fuels

An exciting opportunity has arisen with my client, a leading global construction company, for a Commodity Manager - Fuels, to join their Purchasing team based in the Midlands. The main responsibilities of the role will be:
• Direct responsibility for the procurement of a portfolio of fuels and alternative fuels commodities which form a very significant spend portfolio.
• Implement the procurement strategy across a large number of diverse and geographically widespread stakeholders for the high value commodities under your direct responsibility.
•Lead the overall Commodity Strategy Development process.
• Deliver results from expert commercial negotiations and discussions with current and potential suppliers across the appropriate areas of spend.
• Derive maximum value to the internal customers through achieving the best mixture of Lowest Total Cost, Service & Quality.
• Reduce the risk exposure across the spend portfolio to achieve long-term supply security.
• Satisfy the service, quality and innovation requirements of internal customers.
• Work closely with suppliers to align the service and product offered alongside my client's organisation for their maximum benefit.
• Build high quality relationships with key internal stakeholders to maximise efficiency and effectiveness of the procurement strategy upon implementation.
• Your performance will be judged upon key areas including Delivered Savings, Reduction in Overall number of Suppliers or Complexity of Processes, Improved Supplier Performance and Increased Proportion of Spend covered by commodity management strategy.

Who we're looking for
Ideally you be degree and likely CIPS qualified. You will possess a demonstrable experience of relevant procurement categories (fuels, alternative fuels or a wider energy portfolio)and of operating at a strategic level.
You will have a history of demonstrable cost reduction and / or process improvement and be able to demonstrate your use of industry best practice.
You will have excellent relationship building and influencing skills with middle / senior internal stakeholders as well as suppliers.
You will want to progress your career and be looking for future promotion based upon the results you deliver in your role.

My client is a large-scale, leading multi-national construction company with a high-quality procurement function. Both the business and procurement function have enjoyed record results in 2007.

What's on offer
Salary of £40,000 - £50,000 plus car and benefits, dependent upon experience and skills.
