Java Architect

The development lead (Architect) will lead a team of developers to design and implement solutions for banking e-channels applying in-depth knowledge of software development concepts, practices and procedures and against stated deadlines. Business needs must be translated into effective technical solutions using web technologies under J2EE, with MQ messaging and with relevant database technologies.

The candidate must be able to act independently, operating with only a general product or service direction stated.

The candidate will be responsible for the planning, development, implementation and customization of software systems and will act as technical lead for assigned staff and provide weekly written project status.


Responsibilities:
• Perform life cycle software development activities for the bank Web application implementation.
• Be able to produce technical requirements, design, test and implementation documentation
• Train and assist staff as needed in existing and new technologies
• Provide support and enhancements for existing systems
• Establish J2EE application architecture practice and provide guidance in the development of J2EE best practices
• Coordinate activities with other team members and with other departments in the IT group
• Plan the development activities needed to achieve desired end-results.

Who we're looking for

• Degree or equivalent
• Proven track record in the role of J2EE lead developer
• Expert or senior level skills with J2EE systems
• Hands-on experience with JMS with WebSphere or Weblogic
• Knowledge of Oracle and/or SQL Server with in-depth SQL knowledge
• Proven experience with n-tier software architectures and solutions.
• Understanding database design and configuration
• Candidates must have some project management experience and be able to monitor program/development completion against schedules and timelines.
