Skills Development Officer

Manufacturing

Burnley

Permanent ⁄ £25000 - £30000

Updated April 29, 2008

This is a brand new role and has arisen due to the continuous growth of the organisation and the HR team required supporting it. This training opportunity will provide the skills link between HR and the business, and will focus both on the soft and technical training elements.

The primary focus is two fold and will influence the development of all employees. The first challenge for the role will be to focus upon all aspects of the recruitment process and therefore the initial "Employee Experience" - analysing the processes that are currently in place, focussing on the approach taken by line managers and examining the relationship between the recruitment process, the induction process and ultimately the retention and development of all employees. Secondly, to support the continuous development of the organisation, the goal being to establish a training academy providing a consistent approach to all employees.

The role of the Skills Development Officer will be to devise and deliver all soft skills training to new starters - as well as identifying and co-ordinating champions - who can then provide the technical training specific to each business area. The training academy will then be able to support each employee with all aspects of development which can be delivered consistently throughout the organisation.

Who we're looking for
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a number of key skills and experiences as this role will be an integral part of the business and will require design and delivery of soft skills training. The role also requires the ability to network and influence senior managers within the business. You will need to be a self starter, be able to hit the ground running, identify key processes and be able to identify areas of weakness and development. The successful candidate will be CIPD qualified or have the equivalent in training and a familiarity with a manufacturing/engineering environment would be advantageous.
