Reporting directly into the Finance Director your main responsibilities will include:
• Deputising for the FC/FD and assisting with business improvement initiatives and growth strategies.
• Help oversee the financial planning and forecasting processes.
• Supporting the FC and FD in day-to-day finance matters including process & policy development, corporate governance, identification of acquisition targets and ad-hoc analytical work.
• Ensuring internal financial controls are in place and adhered to and that finance systems allow efficient reporting under UKGAAP.
• Help identify and implement profitability and cost improvements.
• Staff management - to help lead, manage and develop the finance team.
• Significant ad-hoc financial/commercial project work supporting the decision-making process.
• Develop business information reporting tools & assist management in the resolution of issues highlighted.
Who we're looking for
The successful candidate will be a top tier qualified accountant with a strong academic pedigree. Both technically strong and commercially astute, applicants will need to be equally comfortable liaising with senior management and key external intermediaries. A strong work ethic and the desire to add-value are key requirements for this position.
• It is imperative that the Finance Director and Finance Team can trust this individual, so strength of personality is essential.
• A strong eye for detail and the ability to consistently meet tight reporting deadlines.
• Self-belief and confidence in ones own ability.
• A strong work ethic and a personality that sides on continuous improvement and innovation.
• The ability to relate to the wider office environment, coupled with the gravitas to be able to manage a variety of key relationships.
Over time the demands of the role are likely to change with the emphasis shifting to commercial business partnering (developing inter-company relationships) in the long-term. The successful candidate must therefore be able to change with the role, being a controller, team manager and business partner.
