Central Government

London, Bristol, Birmingham (or possibly Solihull), Manchester

Temp ⁄ £110,000 plus Civil Service Pension & flexible working patterns available. Three Year Fixed Term Appointment.

Updated June 21, 2008

HM Revenue & Customs' Anti-Avoidance Group has identified a need to recruit two Direct Tax Anti Avoidance Advisor staff. Helping to anticipate, investigate and close tax-avoidance loopholes, this valuable and highly visible work offers a professional challenge, variety and the scope for strategic influence in equal measure. You will work effectively as part of a diverse cross-taxes team to tackle complex avoidance challenges, effect strategic influence and help shape legislative change. In addition, the need may arise to work closely across Government, for example with HM Treasury, and to liaise effectively with counsel in the most complex cases. The posts offer you the opportunity to join the cutting edge of the tax avoidance investigative and legislative processes, focussing your talent on challenging other great minds in the highly complex and demanding world of tax avoidance. In return we offer a secure and flexible working environment that is free of the timesheet based culture and any pressure to sell or promote tax avoidance services.

• Outstanding interpersonal skills and experience of working effectively in diverse teams
• Financial services/capital markets experience would be of interest for one of the roles
