The role will be one of the principal technical specialists for Geotechnical and Contaminated Land issues within the Yorkshire & North East business unit. The Principal Engineer will have responsibility for assisting in managing and developing the well established team of geo-environmental and environmental specialists, reporting to the Regional Director in charge of the Leeds Contaminated Land team.
In addition, the successful applicant will strongly interface with the planning, engineering, and project management disciplines in the Leeds office.
As such, the successful applicant will be expected to act as one of the key technical and commercial representatives for the team and play a key role in developing the client base for geotechnical and contaminated land work within Yorkshire and the North East.
Consequently, strong business development skills and a proven ability to communicate on appropriate technical and commercial levels to a diverse range of current and potential clients and other professionals will be a distinct advantage.
Who we're looking for
Qualifications:
?X Qualified to BSc. level in a relevant environmental science/engineering/geological discipline; B Eng Civil Engineering
?X MSc. in a relevant geo-environmental discipline will be an advantage.
The successful applicant should have extensive experience in environmental consultancy or equivalent experience in the public or private sector.
Applicants should be experienced in the following areas:
?X The design, management and execution of desk studies and site investigations for Brownfield site developments;
?X Current UK standards, methodologies and practice for the analysis of soil and water;
?X Current UK practice and methodologies for both qualitative and quantitative risk assessments in the context of current UK legislation;
?X Current UK practice for the remediation of contaminated land and a good knowledge of emerging remediation technologies;
?X Preparation and review of interpretative reports covering the investigation and assessment of Brownfield sites which incorporate client focused and pragmatic remediation solutions that satisfy the requirements of the appropriate regulatory agencies and are compatible with engineering, budgetary and other constraints;
?X Experience in the site supervision of remediation works will also be an advantage;
?X Directing and managing staff to ensure project

Excellent Basic £40,000 - £60,000 depending on entry level plus package .
